When you establish your profile, whether you pull your priors from LinkedIn or add them yourself, Switch automatically sets your preferences for you. If you’re a UX designer living in Seattle, for example, your job function and location will be set based on that information. Forgive us for the assumption, but we figured we’d get started bringing you relevant jobs immediately.
However, it’s super simple to change those preferences. If, say, you’re a Brooklyn-based software engineer looking to move to the Bay Area and get into marketing, you can alter those location and function preferences in a matter of seconds.
To do so, follow these instructions:
- Open the app.
- Tap on the top center of the screen where you see your job function.
- Click on “Function” or “Location” to release drop down menus.
- Click new job function / Enter new location data.
- Click Save in right-hand corner.
- Watch the relevant postings roll in!

BONUS TIP: If you do decide to update your preferences, it’s a good idea to update your profile at the same time to reflect your new location and function. For example, organizing your skills to prioritize the ones most relevant to your preferred job function -- or manually changing your location to reflect where you want to be -- will help our matching algorithm bring you only the most relevant job postings.
